 Abstract:  This letter book contains the correspondence of George Fox, a prominent Philadelphian and associate of William Temple Franklin, for the years 1786-1797. Fox corresponded with William Temple Franklin extensively and discussed financial and political matters. Lands owned by Franklin and Fox in western Pennsylvania were frequently discussed, as were other investments and speculations. For much of this period, Franklin was in Europe and Fox served as Franklin's business representative in Pennsylvania.

Land holdings and legal proceedings are discussed. Most of the correspondence dates to before 1800.

 Abstract:  The Penn Family Estates Collection consists of two volumes that contain quitrent data for land the Penns owned. The first is what appears to be a copy of a rent roll from 1688/1689. It lists names of individuals and their status (first purchaser, renter, etc.) and their tax information. The second is a large ledger book from 1788 that contains the names of individuals in Lancaster County who apparently leased land still owned by the Penn family.

Keating's surveys contain detailed descriptions of the land and area. At times, it reads like a travel narrative.

 Abstract:  Written in 1797, this essay discusses Tennessee's soil, climate, and environment. The tract appears to be promotional – noting that "no other milk or butter has such flavor and richness as that afforded from the cows that feed" in the state – but also reflects the enthusiasm many Americans held for the opportunity these western lands afforded them. The essay includes a map of settlements near William Dunbar on the Natchez River as well, providing a snapshot of a recently settled frontier community.

 Abstract:  The Loyalist Collection contains ten documents that pertain to the interests and affairs of American Loyalists after the American Revolution. The items convey the grievances of Loyalists, particularly merchants. The documents of relate to how the states treated Loyalists and their property after the Revolution. Most of the documents are either official government documents or formal reports. Reports by the Committee of American Merchants, a Loyalists group that formed in Britain after the war, are included as are records relating to the disposition of Penn family interests in Pennsylvania. Also of note is a multi-page, loose-leaf list of loyalists and their claims on the British treasury for services rendered during the war.

 Abstract:  The volume contains records relating to the history of Dutch settlers in the territories that the English acquired. These are copies of documents that are held at the State Archives. Many were originally in Dutch but were translated to English in this volume. The documents contain records from as early as 1638 and continue through Edmund Andros' term as governor of New England and ends in 1700. The documents include many official government proclamations and legal documents relating to Dutch property and their rights within English colonies.

 Abstract:  Printed in Hazard's Register, this essay recounts the history of the Walking Purchase. It focuses less on the walk itself, and more on the historical origins of the walk and the subsequent disillusionment of the Delaware, including accounts of treaties. At the back of the document, John Watson includes a letter that recounts the recollections of the Walk by Moses Marshall, whose father was one of those who made the walk. This letter contains details on the actual walk itself.

This collection contains a series of letters from William Temple Franklin to George Fox that begins in the 1791 when W.T. Franklin was in London and ends in 1800. Most of the letters deal with Franklin's business, especially his land speculations. There are two documents from Goveneur Morris that deal with business.

Cadwalader wrote to Samuel Meredith, a politician and fellow Revolutionary War soldier, concerning the war, his real estate holdings in Philadelphia, and the local political climate. The seven items are dated from October 5, 1779 to March 9, 1798, during which Cadwalader served in the military, reentered politics, got married, and then retired from public service.

 Abstract:  This Thomas and Richard Penn Collection contains a range of correspondence from the proprietors of Pennsylvania, Thomas and Richard Penn (especially Thomas, the chief proprietor), to their agents in Pennsylvania, especially James Hamilton, who served as governor in the 1750s. The Collection begins in the 1740s, spans the Seven Years' War, and ends in the midst of the imperial crisis. Because of the time period covered, the letters touch on many important matters regarding the militarization of Pennsylvania, political battles within the colony, and the crisis brought about by imperial consolidation in the 1760s.
